What are rubble stone slabs?

Flagstone slabs are irregularly shaped natural stone slabs obtained by deliberately breaking larger rock blocks. Unlike machine-cut tiles or industrially produced concrete slabs, flagstone slabs retain their natural contour and surface – each slab is a unique piece. They are offered in polygonal shapes, meaning irregular, multi-faceted forms, and are especially popular for terraces, garden paths, walls, and facade claddings.

Typical materials for flagstone slabs include graywacke, quartzite, slate, or porphyry. These natural stones are characterized by high resistance to frost, moisture, and mechanical stress. It is precisely the combination of durability and natural aesthetics that makes flagstone slabs the first choice for long-lasting outdoor areas with character.

In contrast to tiles, which are smooth, right-angled, and standardized, flagstone slabs impress with their organic shape and vibrant texture. And compared to quasi-natural stone like concrete stone with a natural stone look, genuine flagstone slabs offer clear advantages: they do not weather artificially, are free from color washouts, and change naturally – dignified and beautiful.

Distinctive looks through natural diversity

Greywacke polygonal stone slabs offer an exceptional combination of rustic elegance and natural durability. This stone truly comes into its own especially as a façade stone: every single slab is unique – shaped by millions of years of geological processes and defined by color variations ranging from earthy brown and metallic-looking shades of grey to warm rusty red. This dynamic interplay of colors gives wall designs depth and an almost archaic character.

Polygonal stone slabs – pure nature in shape and color

Unlike industrially manufactured облицовочные камни, polygonal greywacke stone slabs rely on pure natural character: irregular shapes, broken edges, and lively surfaces make every cladding installation one of a kind. Whether for modern architecture or a historic building, the slabs adapt to any setting and create a harmonious, timelessly beautiful overall appearance.

High performance for every challenge

Despite their natural look, greywacke façade slabs impress with solid practical qualities. Weighing around 37 to 40 kg per square meter, they are substantial enough for stable wall cladding while still light enough to ensure safe and easy installation. The low slab thickness of 1–3 cm reduces the overall build-up height and allows them to be used even in demanding construction projects.

Versatile applications

Whether on private homes, garden walls, or public buildings, greywacke stone slabs are especially popular for the following applications:

  • Façade cladding & plinth design
  • Walls and privacy screens
  • Entrance areas & architectural accents
  • Interior wall cladding with rustic charm

Graywacke slate bark

Graywacke Slate Bark 1-3 cm

With a diameter of 1 to 3 cm and natural gray and brown tones, the slate bark harmoniously blends into any environment.

The graywacke slate bark is frost-resistant, does not weather, and thus remains permanently intact, unlike bark mulch, which decomposes. It acts as a weed suppressant and inhibits weed growth (recommended layer thickness approx. 10 cm). One Big Bag covers about 5 to 7 m² at a thickness of 10 cm. Ideal for decorative garden designs around the house and garden.
